Counselling

In my practice I work to create a warm, non-judgemental, collaborative enviroment to support you through life's challenges. I'm here to help you explore your experiences, understand how they affect you, and, when you're ready, find a way forward.

My core training is as an integrative practitioner, meaning I have a background in multiple therapeutic modalities, including humanistic, CBT, existential, and psychodynamic. In practice, this means I tailor the therapeutic experience to you, drawing on multiple disciplines to work in a way that suits you and your needs.

I hold a Distinction in MA Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales. I maintain a small caseload to ensure all my clients receive due care and attention, and work privately online alongside working sessionally at Cardiff Mind. Previously, I have worked specifically with young adults accessing counselling through their educational institute, Cardiff and Vale College.

What to expect

Getting in touch

You can get in touch with me to enquire about a session, or with any questions you may have, by emailing me at AffinityCardiff@gmail.com, texting or messaging me via WhatsApp on 07712 500 204, or using the contact page here.

I'm often unable to respond right away, but aim to get back to you within 2 working days.

If you get in touch regarding arranging a session, I will share a couple of documents with you that will need reading and filling out prior to our first session - an information sheet and counselling contract. The information sheets asks for a little bit of background on yourself, and the contract covers important information such as confidentiality. These are common in therapy practices, and form the basis of our work together.

Our first session

The idea of a first therapy session can feel daunting as you consider what to expect. When we first meet, we'll start by getting to know each other a little. To begin with, I'll go over some important information about confidentiality. Then I'll ask some questions about what's brought you to therapy, if you have any specific goals, and what you hope to get from our sessions. It's okay if you find you're unable to answer these questions. I'll also share some information about my approach, and give you space to ask any questions you may have.

It's normal to feel nervous or unsure in the beginning, but please know I'm here to support you and help you feel as comfortable as possible. By the end of our first session, we'll have a clearer sense of whether we're a good match and if therapy with me feels like the right path for you. If you decide to move forward, we'll schedule our next session and start working on your goals together.
